KUNT AND THE GANG

For those not in the know, Kunt and the Gang consist of Kunt, sometimes assisted by the dummy (Little Kunt) and a backing tape. Oh, and a prosthetic – and frighteningly lifelike – semi - erect penis poking out from beneath his white pyjama suit. The music? Imagine, er, Momus crossed with Depeche Mode, Benny Hill, Ronnie Barker , Roy ‘Chubby’ Brown and The macc lads you’re somewhere on the way to the schoolboyish toilet and onanism transfixed filth that drives this whole venture on.

But is it funny? I’m afraid so. Will we see Kunt and his gang being introduced by Myleene Klass on CD:UK one Saturday morning soon? No chance whatsoever – despite her similar spelling affliction.

With tracks like ‘Semi On (With A Drop Of Pre-Cum)’, ‘Carol Vorderman’ (“Carol’s really glamorous/she wears the latest stuff/she’s fit for fortysomething and I want to doik her muff”) and ‘Wanking Over A Pornographic Polaroid Of An Ex-Girlfriend Who Died’ – the track responsible for the tearful, tortured, self-abusing image that is Kunt’s trademark. In his resume im sure sony will be on the phone any day now Granted, you’ll probably only listen to it for 10 minutes, but what a gloriously epic 10 minutes it is. As sexy as having a dead child in one’s bed even.

Back With A Bang

Well,first off, sorry i havent posted in about a month. I don't really have any excuses,im just lazy. Anyways,to the point. Lastnight i went to my local venue to check out some bands on tour, must say that the headlining and support band were rubbish. However, the second band on were brilliant. They went by the name of Klay and they tore a new arsehole into the line up that night. Heres some info on the band they call.....
They Formed in 2002, They are a four piece, alternative, post - rock band from the South West of England. Live they sounded like a good mix between Quicksand esq punk mixed with the likes of Explosions in the sky. On the demo cd that they gave me theyre a bit more like the latter of the two refferances accompanied by vocals , which to be honest cant really be a bad thing. This is a review of another show they played recently in a simular venue to my local and it describes exactly what they were like lastnight as well.

Sorry i havent posted anything over the past week or so. Havent really got any excuses. Ive just been lazy and well,yeah thats a reason good enough in my book! As usual i have no idea where to start with this band. For one i cant even remember how i first came about hearing them, it could of either been thanks to a BMX video called Road fools back in 97' or through hype from a zine i used to get that i cant even remember the name of now thanks to a friend of mine Mr J.Daniels.

Either way, since the first time i heard them i have never ever stopped loving them, the more i listen to them the more i like them! Most bands that ive gotten into over the years have produced some amazing first few years of music and then seem to change everything great about them and start to follow a new lables "great new sound" or try too hard to follow whats hot right now instead of keeping up what theyve always done! Superchunk on the other hand have done the opposit! Instead of following all the passing fads and sounds and fashions they just stuck to their guns and kept doing what they always did, and that was straight up great American indie rock.

"Superchunk released Superchunk in 1990, a critically-lauded LP. In spite of the ensuing bidding war, Superchunk decided to stay independent, sticking with Matador Records for their second, just as critically-lauded LP, No Pocky for Kitty, followed by a collection of singles, Tossing Seeds and another pair of well-reviewed LP's, On the Mouth and Foolish.

Superchunk singer Mac McCaughan and bassist Laura Ballance launched Merge Records to release the band's future albums, as well as other indie-rock acts, including Lambchop and The Arcade Fire. They continue touring and recording, appearing on Lollapalooza and backing a minor hit in "Hyper Enough" (from Here's Where the Strings Come In). In 1999, Superchunk released Come Pick Me Up.

Ill Ease

"Brooklyn New York's Ill Ease is the solo band of multi instrumentalist Elizabeth Sharp. After playing drums in New Radiant Storm King for 5 years. Sharp decided to go it alone in 1998 recording three albums for the Smilex label which brought her to the attention of Too Pure/Beggars Group. Her first UK album release "The Exorcist" came out in 2004 and "The After After Party Party" EP followed in 2005.

The Ill Ease live show is a fun fuelled whirlwind of deconstructed guitar riffs, bass loops and drum licks performed as one seamless set with one song melting in to the next Like Ill Ease recordings, many songs in the live performance begin with the drums, are built up with bass loops and fragmented guitar riffs, and then fully animated by cityscape sound collages, aka found sounds, like car horns and police sirens. Elizabeth Sharp runs the Ill Ease show from her drum stool front of stage delivering her unique slippery vocal style which crests over and contrasts with the drums, guitar, bass, shaker, tambourine and everything else that rattles and buzzes. today's update is a fair well tribute to a friend I don't see too often these days who is leaving London to live upt north! I know he thinks this band im about to write about as one of his favorites as well as one of mine so here it is!

LUCERO

I don't really want to write about one specific album by Memphis born alt-country rockers Lucero, I feel that just writing about one album and only putting up a couple of tunes from one album wouldn't give them enough justice! So im going to put up some of my favorite all time Lucero tracks! I know this is the second alt-country band I've written about in a week but whatever,don't like it?Then sling ya hook! im not very good at giving detailed descriptions of bands so I'll let these nerds do it

"Adding a Southern flavor to their love of the indie folk-pop of Ida, Memphis alt-country rockers Lucero have suffered the turbulence that comes with the indie scene, but their story of perseverance and survival is triumphant, so much so that director Aaron Goldman made a film about it. Formed by leader Ben Nichols in the late '90s, Lucero took their name from the Spanish word meaning "bright star." After releasing a single on the Landmark label, Lucero signed with the alternative country label Madjack for their 2001 self-titled debut. Momentum started to build with their 2002 release Tennessee. With critics picking up on their rock and Replacements edge, a decision was made to sign with the more diverse label Tiger Style. The 2003 release That Much Further West earned them positive reviews and a spot on Rolling Stone's "Hot List." Things seemed to be going well, but as the album was catching indie fire, Tiger Style announced they were closing shop. The band formed their own label, Liberty & Lament, and worked on their next album with famed musician/producer Jim Dickinson. Released in spring of 2005, Nobody's Darlings featured the most Southern-fried sounds from the band yet. Mixing archival footage along with footage shot during the recording of the album, Goldman premiered his Lucero documentary Dreaming in America in September of 2005. The DVD the review talked about can be found here! I highly recommend buying it if you like the band or want to get into them! It shows great insight into how much these guys give to make the band work and keep going!Also the sound quality on the live show parts is excellent and every gig makes you feel like your actually there!Its rad!

Munching on your Fuzzbox

FUZZBOX

I finally left the house today which was good, i managed to go to a few piss/tea bag ridden charity shops to dig the crates and had quite a time! I managed to find a copy of "we've got a fuzzbox and we're not afraid to use it" on 12". The 5-track EP was released in 1986 on Vindalo0 records! I must say i was really surprised with this release. i've heard their other stuff was very very poppy,like top 40 poppy but this is isnt at all!

The thing i like about this record the most is that it sounds a lot like a few bands that are playing the underground punk/electroclash scene around london at the moment! One band inparticular is one band im trying to get played near me right now called LOOK LOOK(dancing boys) (more on this band in another post really soon).
They also have a riot grrl/bubblegum punk feel to them, as well as keeping the 80s rock sound of other female groups like early BANGLES and The go-gos! I guess if it were released now under a different name they'd be huge but at the time i think they seemed to get carried along with the whole hair and fashion thing and never really made it!

Hello internet. This is my first post at an attempt to create an mp3 blog in the hope I may get sent free records! I've been ill and bored thus the creation of this blog! I don't really know what else to begin with so I may as well get down to the first couple of bands I think you should check out if you haven't already,which you probably have but whatever!

Whiskey & co

About two months ago, florida's whiskey & co released their second album "leaving the nightlife" on no idea records. They play punk influenced alt. Country with female lead vocals that take you to summer every time she opens her mouth! Perfect for hanging out on a porch(or if you live in England like myself, I guess we could sit on say, a bench,in a park,surrounded by pykies drinking lambrini and talking bollocks) and sessions at kissing the bottle! Some of their influences have been said to be good ol boys like Gram Parsons, David Allen Coe and a lot of the outlaw kinda stuff from Hank williams.jr! However if your not a fan of the old school they also have touches of uncle tupelo and near neighbors Rumbleseat!I'm sure if you like your drink you'll love this band and if your a fan of Beat generation novels you'll piss your self to this as well!
